Trooper Mixed Breed Madison, WI

How do you do? I'm Trooper! I'm a simple, low-key dude who recently arrived from Oklahoma. I was living with a family but they lost their home and couldn't take me with. Believe it or not, even good boys like me are waiting a long time to find homes there, so I was sent to Wisconsin to get a better chance! Despite my young age I'm actually a pretty calm, plop-down-at-your-feet type guy. I appreciate a good meal and a comfy bed to take my nap. I haven't been too much into toys (yet?) and I'm not destructive. I absolutely love scratches on my butt, head, and chest, and I will sometimes let out a groan of happiness when I get a good ear rub. I just love being pet and getting attention, but I will leave you alone if you don't have time. I get along fine with other dogs with proper introduction, including smaller dogs. So far I haven't felt much like playing, though, so I might do best with dogs that aren't in my face or super high energy. I was reported to be good with kids (of unclear ages) from my prior life. I get along great with the cats so far. There are some cats that walk right up to me and I either ignore them or walk away. I am totally house and crate-trained and I don't mark. I have been very quiet when I'm crated at night. It's possible that I might not need a crate when alone, though, as I'm a layabout type dog. I seem to enjoy walks and sniffing things outside. I pull a bit on the leash but I do better with that once I get going, and I like to walk near you. Once I get more practice I'd probably be a very good walking buddy. I did fine in the car and I'm okay with being lifted. I haven't been very talkative yet but I did bark at my reflection in some glass. It was unexpected, okay? I got a bath when I arrived and while I tried to get out of the tub at first I eventually gave in and was very good about being washed and handled. I'm not picky about my food - I will take dry or wet types. I haven't been very treat motivated yet but that could change. I clearly know to go in my kennel and I seem to know my name and when I'm being called, but I haven't been taught other commands yet. If you give me a chance I'd love to learn! Most of all I want a family and a home to call my own where I can get some good naps and butt scratches.

Any other necessary medical treatment as recommended by veterinarian

Our adult dog adoption fee is $350. Our puppy (under 5 mo) is $400. Our senior dog (over 8 yrs) is $250.
