Trixie Dachshund Mix Colmar, PA

Trixie is a 5-6 yr old smoothcoat Dachshund w possibly a slight mix of another small breed.
Trixie spent her first several years as a Lancaster puppy mill momma, During her first 3-4 years she was used as a puppy maker and milk machine. Once she stopped producing the way the “Man” wanted her to, she needed to go,
She landed in Pet store up for sale. A young woman bought her and took home to her apartment where Trixie spent the last 2 years. Trixie’s owner recently moved and did not have accommodations for Trixie leaving her once again, homeless.
Bubbas Station learned about Trixie’s situation and was able to intervene thus keeping her out of the Philly shelter.
To say this pup’s life has been a sorted journey, is putting it mildly.
As we’ve spent the last several months getting to know Trixie, her resilience is to be admired.
She has been nothing but a joy to us and each of our volunteers.
She is completely housebroken and has not chewed, destroyed, or gotten into anything that was not given to her in the first place.
In true Dachshund form, she’s got nothing but love bubbling over that she can’t wait to share with a forever human or forever family. Trixie already being 5-6 years old, she will be happiest in a home where humans are around more often than not. Although we don’t feel that she would harm a child, we do feel that small children may be too much for her so a home without small children would be ideal. Again, our lack of experience with her and small children is what this is based on.
Trixie loves other dogs! If you have a parttime playful /part time snuggler and have been considering adding another dog,Trixie might be the perfect addition!
What we’ve learned about Trixie in the months she’s been with us is that she’s a girl who wants to love and be loved.
She’s playful and loving! We’ve also learned that she prefers a little privacy when going the bathroom and will not go with someone holding her leash. Therefore she will be looking for a home with a fenced yard.
