Meet Toffee. This boy has been through a lot. When I found him he was laying across my lane of traffic. When I stopped and tried to get him out of the road, he seemed exhausted. When he finally stood up, I noticed what appeared to be a hole in his side. It looked as though he had been shot. While attempting to get him in the car I had a few folks stop to help. That made the pup very uneasy and he was once again on the move. My helpers finally gave up and I was about to do the same but I knew I was most likely his last chance. I turned the car around, put my emergency flashers on and opened my passenger door. I stood in the road with a squeaky toy. He immediately turned around and ran right for me. He jumped in the car and we were on out way to the vet.

The vet couldn't find a bullet but it was obviously a deep puncture wound. She also discovered that he had severe scaring from an embedded collar. Areas of his neck looked to have growths that appeared to be keloids.

Toffee has healed up and is ready to find a wonderful loving forever home. What I've learned is that at some point in time, Someone spent time training this boy. He walks excellent on his leash, sits perfectly on command. He is afraid of men however which explained why I couldn't initially get him in the car. All my helpers that stopped where men. I also have discovered that he's frightened of storms and will break out of his kennel if I'm not home. During those incidents he's never damaged anything and meets at the front door when I get home.

I know that most people are looking for that "plug and play" dog that has no
baggage and can adjust immediately. I'm looking for that special person that will
see the diamond in the rough, and will give Toffee all the love and support that he needs to thrive.
