Meet Tobias
2.5 years old, neutered male
*Has cherry eye surgery scheduled Aug 15
Located in Newport, North Carolina
Looking for a foster, foster to adopt, or adopter!
Tobias wrote himself a bio:
1. A hopeless romantic: I LOVE love and want to be near (and as close as possible to) my humans at all times. Although some people may find my love style as clingy, I like to call it being the best Velcro Dane that there ever was. Personal space is not a word in my vocabulary, doesn’t matter if you are a human, kid, dog, cat, or tree. I have learned that consent is important though and have even been trained to sit to receive love from the humans. I also have mastered the “Dane Lean”, if you haven’t experience it before get ready because I love to make sure that you know that all 153lbs of me loves you.
2. A foodie: When I see my humans coming with my food bowl it might be the happiest you will ever see a dog, EVER. I will sit and wait for it, but you better believe there will be no crumbs left. I like to be fed separate from other dogs so I can keep my eye on the prize.
3. A genius escape artist: I trained under Harry Houdini; he taught me that no door with a handle or crate with a latch is unopenable.
4. The smartest treasure hunter and adventurer: Indian Jones taught me that if there is a chew toy to be found I can find it, no matter if it is on a counter, under a chair, or not a chew toy at all. I especially like to go on adventures to hunt for treasures when my humans are not at home.
5. An honor student: I am happy to learn new things and have passed all my classes in potty training, sitting, waiting and shaking. I am currently working on walking on a leash. I have received the highest grades possible from the vets as I am very chill, and they all want to be the ones to work with me.
As you can see Tobias is a really great guy! He’s come along way. The one thing he needs continued training on is crate training. He will bust out of crate and go over baby gates. IF there is nothing, he can possibly find interesting and he is contained to a couple of rooms he usually does ok. Ideally, we need someone who works from home or is retired who can slowly acclimate him to being comfortable alone. He is worth it!!!
All of our Great Danes are altered, if medically possible, fully vetted, micro-chipped, and on heartworm prevention or treatment prior to being adopted. Thank you for considering adopting a rescue dog, you're saving a life when you adopt.
