Meet TILLIE-ME
Meet our Terrific Tillie-ME, a gorgeous female red 3 month old Standard Goldendoodle puppy, who is in an IDOG foster home in Eliot, Maine.
*Please read ALL the information in Tillie’s listing before applying to ensure you understand what she needs to be successful in her new home.
*If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for Tillie, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL into your browser).
***You can use one application for any of the 4 female puppies - Annie-NH, Hallie-NH, Gabby-ME, Tillie-ME. Please indicate your preferred dog. We will not adopt them to the same family due to Littermate Syndrome.***
*If you completed an adoption application in the last 3 months & would like for your application to be considered for Tillie, please email that to us to rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org and we will pull your prior application.
*You must complete our adoption application fully. If you choose not to answer all of the questions in the application, your application will not be considered. We will review your application & email you if you made our short list of applicants for Tillie. Please respond within 24 hours if you receive an email from us about making our short list.
*You can check the status of her adoption at www.doodles.petfinder.com or any of our social media pages. We will change her status to adopted when she is adopted.
*We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.
*You must be approved to adopt Tillie before we will schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs.
*AGE: approximately 3 months old (born February 2023)
*WEIGHT: 21 lbs right now. We can’t guarantee the adult weight or size of Tillie but think she is going to be a Standard Goldendoodle in the 45-50 lb. range as an adult.
*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence is not required but recommended. No electronic/invisible fences, or e-collars will be allowed.
*COAT TYPE: We have no way of predicting what type of coat she will have but she appears to have a lower shedding coat. You should be prepared to have her groomed regularly (every 6-8 weeks) with an estimated cost of $100/groom.
*ENERGY LEVEL: Medium puppy energy. She has spurts of high energy but then quickly calms down, especially if her humans are around her. There are some puppy tendencies, but she is the sweetest little girl. She is very attentive to her humans and really loves to be cuddled. Keep in mind that she could start nipping while she is teething which could last for several months so you need to be prepared for razor sharp teeth nipping at you, your clothing and chewing on items she shouldn’t.
*DOGS: She gets along really well with the dogs in her foster home, and she really wants to play with them. She is respectful of other dogs and will not pester them to play. We will not place her in a home with an older dog who would likely be annoyed by her puppy energy. Due to the intense, playful nature of puppies, she would be best placed with dogs with a similar desire to interact and play.
*CATS: unknown.
*KIDS: Yes. Kids who have experience around a dog, know how to behave around dogs, are OK with being jumped on. She has not been mouthy when playing with people, but as she starts to lose those puppy teeth, that could change.
*CAR: She does very well in the crate in the car. She didn’t potty in her crate on the 7 hour drive to Maine. She is very quiet in the car and seems to enjoy the drive.
*CRATE: She willingly goes into her crate and is very calm, with minimal barking. She sleeps in her crate all night without needing to go potty. She will need some transition/training when she goes to her forever home.
*HOUSE TRAINED: Work in progress. Her new family should be prepared to put the work in to train her. They should be patient & understanding that she is just a baby & WILL have accidents.
*LEASH: She has limited leash experience. Her adopters should be willing to work with her on getting accustomed to leashes/walking. Every time we go out to go to the bathroom, she is on a leash and has been doing very well, with no issues.
Tillie, a gorgeous 3 month old red female Standard Goldendoodle puppy, came in to IDOG with her littermates when her breeder couldn’t sell her litter. We are delighted that we were able to help Tillie go on to live a wonderful life.
Some adjectives that describe Tillie are: Loving, snuggly, inquisitive, smart, attentive, and adventurous.
Some activities she enjoys are: playing with other dogs, exploring, chewing on bones and squeaky toys, meeting new people and snuggling with her foster family….lots of snuggles.
Tillie is snuggly, sweet and loves to give kisses. She’s very inquisitive and she has adapted well to her collar and leash. She loves to be close to you; whether sitting or walking. She is very attentive to you, when outside. She will explore but comes quickly when called. She is so happy to be outside, soaking in the sun. She does well with our three dogs, ages 4 months, 5 yrs. and 12 yrs. We feel she would do well in a home with either another pet or even as the only pet. She just really loves to be around people.
She was very relaxed during her bath and nail trim; and didn’t fuss when we brushed her and trimmed around her eyes. She loves other dogs and people and is very happy and easy going. Tillie is excellent in her crate in the car and quiet, with not car sickness issues.
Housebreaking is a work in progress. She loves to go outside on a leash and knows the phrase, “Let’s go outside”.
Due to the intense needs of puppies, we will require adopters to be experienced dog owners with someone home during the day, so she is provided with human interaction while continuing to work on house & obedience training. We are looking for adopters who understand the training, exercise & socialization needs of puppies as well as the safety precautions that must be followed until she is fully vaccinated.
Because she is so young, it is not possible to determine what temperament she will have as an adult. Also, we are unsure of the final coat type she will have, so only adopters that can tolerate a shedding coat will be considered. As she matures, her natural disposition and coat type will emerge. Tillie will require training and to be spayed by 9 months of age – these expenses will be covered by the adoptive family.
Tillie has seen the vet and has received dewormer, heartworm/flea tick preventives, her second set of vaccines (DAPP, Bordetella and Rabies), and is microchipped. She will need boosters over the next few months and is not fully protected against diseases until 2 weeks after her last set of boosters.
She should NOT be allowed to have her paws on the ground except in a fenced backyard where no unknown dogs have been. She cannot be around any unvaccinated animals – the risk of Parvo is very real. Parvo can live in our soil for at least a year. Care must be given to protect her – she cannot go to pet stores, on walks in the neighborhood, etc. If you are not willing to make that commitment for the safety of Tillie, please do not apply.
IDOG will hold a $200 spay deposit. The adopter will be required to spay her by 9 months of age. You will need to send the vet receipt to IDOG and we will then refund the deposit. If you fail to get her spayed by 9 months of age per the adoption contract terms, you will be required to return her back to IDOG Rescue.
ADOPTION FEE: $650 adoption fee + $200 refundable spay deposit to be refunded upon proof of spaying by 9 months of age.
ADOPTION FEES:
Under 6 months: $650 and up
6 months - 2 years: $450 and up
2 years - 4 years: $350 and up
4 years+: $250 and up
Special Needs fee/donation assessed on individual basis
Puppies have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting and expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses.
