Meet Thumper
Every morning, Thumper waits patiently by the
gate, ready to go with me to work. I am an
Offender Mentor Certification Program (OMCP)
mentor for the Integrated Substance Use Disorder
Treatment (ISUDT) program. On weekdays,
I counsel / mentor three groups each day so he gets
to meet all of the participants as well as the
counselors and staff, before every group starts
Thumper goes and greets everyone, then lays down
next to me until group is over. He really enjoys the
attention and affection he receives from everyone
by wagging his tail vigorously.
On the weekends we go out to the yard and run for about three miles or take long naps before
we practice the skills that we learn in the weekly training sessions. Thumper is a loving gentle
giant. He will make some lucky person very happy one day.
