Tessie’s Bio (revised 1/2/23)
Meet Tessie the Snuggler! Tessie weighs in at about 50-55 lbs and is what most would call a turnkey dog. She is spayed, housebroken, crate trained, walks well on a leash, is low energy (unless a chipmunk or squirrel invades the yard), and really just wants to be with her people. She barely ever makes a peep. She is a true people dog and loves nothing more than to snuggle. She knows 'sit' and 'shake' and ‘come.’ Tessie is a happy girl, and the vet estimates her age to be somewhere between 2 and 5 - a wide range.
Tessie has an old injury to her back leg - likely a injury that was never repaired as a puppy. It doesn’t slow her down a bit, especially if she needs to chase a chipmunk. The orthopedist said that it wasn’t fixable at this point, but as long as it doesn’t bother her, she should be fine. She goes for daily walks that are about a mile long with no trouble. She’ll never be a running companion, but she says running is overrated anyway.
Tessie is good with other dogs and is currently with three other dogs of varying ages, sizes, and temperaments. She would do well with another low-energy dog, but she also would be good as an only dog - she would love to have ALL the attention! She is non-destructive and will be in the same position you leave her in if you go to the grocery store.
Tessie does have prey drive, so she shouldn’t be in a house with cats. She will sit for hours and watch birds and squirrels out the window.
Tessie would do better in a home with older children and adults. She is sweet with kids but their noise level and sudden movements make her a little nervous.
If you live in the Greater Metro ATL, GA area and are interested in fostering or fostering-to-adopt Tessie, please email us at info@youluckydogrescue.org and visit our website to submit an online FOSTER APPLICATION - we cover all medical/vetting expenses, supply a crate, if needed, and also provide leash/collars/tag and monthly heart worm and flea preventatives.
For more information on our process, please visit our website at www.youluckydogrescue.org and read our Adoption FAQ's and Before You Adopt documents. You can complete an online adoption application from our website. You can also email info@youluckydogrescue.org for additional details that are not included in this biography.
PRIVATE MEET & GREETS: Submitting an adoption application is required before a private meet & greet will be scheduled. We will complete a pre-screening first to make sure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you. That way, we don't unnecessarily waste your time or the foster's time.
Our adoption fee is $300 and includes all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter and microchipping. All of our rescue dogs are heart worm tested annually beginning at 9 months of age, and they are kept on monthly heart worm and flea preventatives.
The breed and age included in this listing is based upon the opinion of a vet that has examined the dog. We cannot confirm the age of the dog unless the dog was born in the care of the rescue.
We are located in the metro Atlanta area. We currently do not allow out of state adoptions as a home check is required as part of the adoption process.
