Meet Taz - Sweet, but shy! Good w/ Dogs!
If Tazzie was a fictional character, he almost certainly would be Parks and Rec's Ron Swanson. Not because he holds libertarian views, secretly plays the saxophone, or has a weakness for Tammys, but because he likes his privacy and will likely take a minute before he admits that you're friends. He also hates vegetables. But like Ron Swanson, once you worm your way into his heart, you've gained the most loyal friend.
Tazzie's history is a bit of a mystery (that rhyme was unintentional but appreciated nonetheless). He was found at Buffalo Park back in early January and was so scared of people that he wouldn't let anyone get close for quite some time. Since then, he has blossomed into such a sweet and goofy boy. He still can be skittish and is learning that being touched doesn't hurt (I'm guessing the people he encountered before weren't exactly the Nobel Peace Prize candidate types), but he loves to give kisses and will get excited when he sees his person. Do I sound like your new best friend? Contact my foster at 920-373-8925 to meet me!
New people and experiences can be scary for the poor guy, but he's never shown even ounce of aggression. Freeze or flee is his MO when he's scared. As an added perk, "my dog is nervous around new people" is a FANTASTIC excuse if you run into someone that you don't want to talk to on a walk. Small talk: avoided.
Tazzie is also working on confidence in the car. But look at it from his perspective- he gets in the weird box on wheels and suddenly he ends up in a completely new place! The guy has no idea if he's just heading down the road or permanently moving to Kansas. I'd probably have my doubts too.
He does really well with other dogs. He loves to play and makes the cutest little zombie noises when he does. I think he prefers dogs to people, but honestly, same. I can't say I blame the guy. Tazzie would do best in a home with another friendly pup to continue showing him how to dog.
Some other Tazzie bonuses are that he's fully potty trained, non-destructive, walks well on the leash, is a perfect apartment dog, and does great when left alone. He might try to steal the occasional shoe or sort through the recycling bin (he's gotta make sure that you're recycling property!) but otherwise he has been a perfect house guest.
Tazzie boy has so much love and joy to give. He might require a little bit more time and effort, but unlike many jobs, Tazzie will fairly compensate you for your hard work (starting salary of 100,000 tail wags per annum).
