Meet Tamara's Puppies!

The Meximutt Project is on a mission to help Mexico’s street dogs! Established in 2019 under the Portland-based organization Born Again Pit Bull Rescue, we now support 1,000+ dogs each year through free spay/neuter programs, adoptions, food, and medical care.

In Mexico over 70% of the 18 million dogs are estimated to live on the street. By adopting a Meximutt, you will not only be welcoming a loving companion but also supporting our efforts to control the street dog population and help thousands of dogs in need.

****INTERESTED IN ADOPTING? Please read all of the following information carefully and fill out the application at www.bapbr.org. We cannot respond to the inquiries made through Petfinder.****

============================================

These puppies are currently in Guadalajara, Mexico in foster care. We are listing this dog for adoption now so that we can find him/her the perfect family BEFORE arriving to Oregon. Once we have an adopter lined up for this dog, we will book a flight to PDX. Please note: It can take 2-4 weeks to arrange for the dog to fly to Oregon due to the CDC and USDA customs import paperwork.

NAME: Rooster (Male), Goose (Male), Ducky (Female), Turtle (Female).

WEIGHT: We think the puppies will be about 15-25 pounds full grown.

AGE: These puppies will fly to Oregon in early November once they turn 6 months old.

BREED: Terrier-Beagle-Dachshund Mixes (see photo of mom “Tamara” – Mom is 15 lbs, Dad is unknown)

DOGS: Yes, good with all dogs and sizes.

CATS: Yes, good with cats.

KIDS: Yes

HOUSEBROKEN: No, not 100% yet -- Please keep in mind that our dogs are rescued off the streets, they are NOT always 100% housebroken and will need time and patience to adjust. Even in a foster home in Mexico, the dogs are often living in an environment with no carpet or grass or living outside. In the house, it is usually tile flooring and outside it is dirt/concrete. Most of our dogs transition well and only need about 1-2 weeks to get on a potty schedule/routine.

LEASH TRAINED: Not yet, working on it -- most dogs in Mexico have never walked on a leash before, she will need to be desensitized to leash walking and you will need to work on it slowly with them.

ABOUT: These puppies are thieves! They are likely to steal your heart and nope, it's not a dream -- these puppies are really THAT cute!

Meet the “Mama Tamara” litter… 2 girls and 2 boys! Mama Tamara and her babies were picked up as strays after a local MexiMutt volunteer found out via publication on Facebook that Tamara was giving birth in a field nearby, so we rushed to find them in the nearby empty land to rescue them.

These puppies are pure perfection. They are all fun, social, outgoing, smart and sweet. They all love to play and wrestle with each other and they love to grab your shoe laces. HA! They have a lot of puppy energy! They love people and are very snuggly and affectionate.

We are currently looking for adopters/furever homes for these sweet babes— families that will provide all the love, care, patience, consistency, time and resources that a puppy requires to be set up for success and get them quickly on their path to becoming a well-behaved, well-adjusted adult dog.

These pup's perfect homes will include someone with experience raising and training a puppy— (puppies need positive training methods, consistency, patience and a routine).

Please keep in mind we are not a first come, first serve rescue. Please understand that we really love our dogs, and are very invested in their success in life. We try very hard to place our dogs into homes that will make both the dog and their people happy.
