Size: small approximately 6 pounds
Health: Good health, vet checked, fully vaccinated including rabies, flea and worm treatments, neutered, microchipped, heart worm tested (negative), full panel bloodwork. Has been neutered.

Churro is a male chihuahua who is 1 and 1/2 years old . Churro is a healthy dog who is smart, loyal and independent. He is good with other pets both cats and dogs. He likes to play with dogs his size. It is important to realize that an older dog might not tolerate his playfulness.

Churro has not had the best life as he was terribly mishandled and physically punished by his former owners and their children. He had never seen a vet upon his surrender to the rescue. Churro can be wary of people until he gets to know you. He is not a dog who likes to be man handled ie picked up, continuous petting/kisses. From his former life he carries a lot of anxiety and he most likely will never be super friendly with strangers as it takes him time to warm up to individuals. A low key, quiet all adult home is what would be suitable for Churro. If a guest visits it is important that Churro is not forced to interact as he prefers his crate where he feels safe and can relax. This is important for anyone who is interested in adopting Churro as to not put him in situations that he is not comfortable with as this only sets him up for failure.

He is currently living with a trainer in a board and train program who has been working with Churro's confidence and working on managing his anxiety and setting boundaries. Churro is leashed trained and walks well on leash. He know commands such as sit, come and down. Churro is fully crate trained. He likes his crate as it is his safe space where he feels comfortable.

We are looking for the following for Churro:
- an experienced dog home (Churro is not a first time dog for someone)
- all adult home - no children
- a quiet and calm home with not a lot of traffic ie people in and out
- a home where he is not left long hours
- someone who understand the purpose of crates and the importance of them
- must live in the Province of Ontario and be over the age of 25 years old

With Churro's adoption comes 2 sessions with the trainer that are mandatory. Also, training support will be provided for Churro.
