Meet Swayze

Have you ever met someone super happy to wake up every morning and excited every single day about life? Well, now you have - meet Swayze! This 3 year old, 40 pound bundle of joy is just about as close to total happiness as you can get!

Swayze is a Bearded Collie/Sheepdog Mix. She came into rescue severely matted, underweight and barely able to walk. Thanks to some good food, an amazing groomer and some proper diagnostics, it turns out that Swayze has a neurological condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia. This condition makes Swayze wobble when she walks. CH is not painful, nor is it degenerative, so we have no reason to believe that Swayze will not live a long, happy, wobbly life!

Swayze is fostered with dogs, cats and children. She hasn't met another being that she doesn't like! Swayze loves her human foster siblings more than anything in the world and typically sleeps in bed with her six year old foster brother. Swayze is potty trained and crate trained, although she prefers a puppy pen with a comfy bed instead of a crate! While she is unable to go on long walks, she loves nothing more than to run around the yard and get out all of her "zoomies" - even if they are interrupted by a tumble or two! She would love a new home with a physical fence and a big yard.

Interested applicants should research Cerebellar Hypoplasia before applying! While Swayze will be the light of any adoptive family's life, she will require a little extra work and "doggy proofing" in the home to keep her safe! Swayze is unable to navigate more than one stair and would do best in a single level home.

Swayze is just about the sweetest girl you could ever hope to meet. She needs a special family to not only handle her special needs, but also to handle all of her happiness! What better way to get you through these tough pandemic times than to welcome the world's happiest dog into your home? If Swayze sounds like a good fit for your family - apply today! Swayze's adoption fee is $250.

To adopt this pet, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt

All of our dogs come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the dog you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where dogs can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting a dog in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Thanks so much for caring about a needy animal!
