Swanson Coonhound & Pointer Mix Hopkinsville, KY

Swanson is a handsome young man who is learning how to be the perfect companion! He is a little more shy than most. It takes a few days for him to gain trust and feel safe for pets. His new family needs to know to be patient! A chaotic/loud home may overwhelm him, and he prefers a calm and quiet environment.

Swanson’s personality is very goofy when he’s in a playful mood. He loves rolling around in the grass and being chased! He would thrive in a home where he could have a lot of outside time, but still be an indoor dog since he does great in his kennel at night. Swanson needs a family that would be willing to walk him at least 2 times a day AND provide play time. (He is still very much a puppy!!) He does great with other dogs and another dog in the home would help to offer companionship and build his confidence. Swanson is working on leash walking and is doing well. He is very gentle at taking treats, and his foster mom described him as a “cuddle bug in the making”!

Swanson is already fully vaccinated and neutered, and is ready to find the perfect forever home!

Please include your veterinarian name, number and the name your current pets are listed under. Also please check your information carefully. All current pets must be up to date on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Dogs must be on heart worm preventative. Our adoptable cats must live inside and adopters must agree not to declaw. If these criteria are not met, we will not process your application.

Adoption Process: This is not a first come, first serve organization. We will do our best to process applications within 48 business hours of receiving them. The application must be completed in full including first and last name, complete address including city and state, complete veterinarian information (this will be checked and all pets must be neutered or spayed, up to date on all vaccines, and dogs must be current on heartworm prevention) and the name of all current pets in the household. We are 100% volunteers and I will not subject anyone who is giving of themselves and their time to hostile conversations. Please be patient with us. We are not paid for our endless hours and are looking for the BEST home for the babies in our care.
