Meet Sushi! Sushi is believed to be about 5 years of age, a sort of awesome mutt blend. Maybe a husky, some beagle, Bernese mountain dog? Honestly, who knows? What I do know is this. Sushi is extraordinary superstar amazingness.

Sushi came to us at about 9 12 months of age, feral, fearful, reactive, and shut down. It took a 2-hour drive with several stops to decide we were possibly ok and maybe trustworthy.

Sushi, once settled, and it took several months to become more open and willing to experience life, began her healing. Slowly, she opened up to us, and with time, it became easier to do so even when meeting new people in new places and welcoming new experiences. Sushi now is great with everyone she meets. Sushi is friendly with dogs of all ages and sizes. Sushi is cat-friendly, too. I believe she believes she is part cat. Since May 22, 2022 Sushi has met and interacted with over 300 dogs, 500 plus cats, and hundreds of humans. And done well with all. Sushi is playful, active, and medium energy. She loves toys too. Oh, she loves loves loves all toys. Sushi is happy, simple, sensitive outgoing but can be a bit hesitant at first. Sushi is or sunny warms sweet heart willing to love all just give her time and space. Allowing her to gravitate toward anyone.

Sushis's place in the pack is to oversee everyone. She is not dominant or submissive. She's what I call an omega. Within a pack, she offers comfort and initiates play to keep the pack balanced. This girl is just perfect. Sushi is authentic and well-balanced. In the home, she loves chilling in the quiet room with the mature dogs and cats. Her favorite place is a cat popup tent. Loves any cave-like area.

Sushi is not hyper but is active. She enjoys sleeping and relaxing but also very well can easily walk a few miles, go on hikes, explore trails, enjoy swimming, and has even learned to run with my tricycle. Car rides are fun, especially if a drive-thru treat takes place. Sushi walks excellently on a leash. She is mostly off-leash trained, but the free bird in her gets the best of her. Sushi is very treat toy play and affection motivated. Loves it all. Sushi needs a home with a nice fence in the yard, but could very well easily make an excellent apartment dog. An active family who enjoys outdoor adventures and walks on most days but is still okay to stay in and binge-watch Netflix while snuggling and cuddling with her human. Sushi is an independent dog that relies and thrives on human interaction, affection, and attention. Her balanced nature, energy, and personality make her in my opinion, perfect. So why is she not adopted?

Sushi wants so badly her happy forever. She is more than ready. She has been patiently waiting for 4 plus years. Sushi can be bossy when things get out of hand. Sushi can be a bit pushy and always makes sure everyone, human and animal, is safe, calm, collected, and things are under control. We just reassure and reinforce her natural balance of energy and interaction. Reminding her I got this and still allowing her natural nature to be free.

Sushi is house and crate-trained and walks great on a leash. Her recall is great too. Sushi is up to date on 3 years of all age-appropriate core vaccines including lepto, and corona, as well as the rabies vaccine, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped with free lifetime registration, and unlimited updated info ability at no additional fee, spay/neutered, heartworm lyme tested negative within 6 months and current on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention year round. Sushi will come with 10 month flea tick prevention (Seresto collar)

Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. We do NOT ship and meet and greet are required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter. Traveling for meet and greets is possible. Let's plan it.

Previous adopters of AHRs have the first choice and are not expected to pay another adoption fee again. Donation of their choice is welcomed.

Training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities arise daily that have to be addressed and or rewarded. Continued training is a purity setting them up for success.
