Miss Summer has returned from foster care and she came back with the best notes! Here’s what her foster had to say about her:

“Summer would be a perfect addition for a family or somebody who works without tremendous amounts of time. She is the sweetest girl and is more than happy to sleep for the majority of the day. Her favorite place is my couch!

She is extremely friendly and greets everyone we meet with a wagging tail. I have not had her around any other dogs but she doesn’t react at all when we pass them on our walks. (Summer has also spent time in another foster home with dogs and done well with them)

She doesn’t indicate (stand by the door, bark, etc.) when she needs to go out but hasn’t had any accidents with regular (3-4) walks of varying lengths each day. I have left her home alone for short periods of time and she has slept the whole time. She will occasionally try to chew the edge of a blanket but is happily redirected to a bone and has never thought about chewing on anything else. She is extremely respectful around food and will sniff in your area but never jumps or barks.

She is relatively easy to walk and only pulls when she gets hooked to a particular scent. Her nose is exceptional, she tracked a peanut butter and jelly sandwich buried in a leaf pile for about a mile!

She will settle into her crate after ~20 minutes and sleep through the entire night. She will also stay on a dog bed through the night and would probably prefer this or sleeping in bed!!

Summer is truly so sweet and calm and would absolutely love a couch of her own to snuggle in to. She was an incredibly easy foster and quickly worked her way into my heart!”

Summer is current on shots, licensed, and microchipped. All dogs over 6 months have been heartworm tested, and all dogs are treated monthly for fleas/ticks and are on Heartworm prevention (NexGard PLUS). All pets are spayed/neutered prior to a finalized adoption. All our dogs receive a behavior assessment before being placed for adoption to determine initial behaviors towards people and other dogs in the shelter environment.
