Hi! My name is Sugar, and foster mom says that I’m as sweet as my name and a real cutie pie, too!

I was abandoned at a shelter in the middle of the night when I was pregnant with my pups, and I gave birth all by myself. That was pretty scary, but I had three beautiful puppies, and I was a very good mama to them. Foster mom says it’s my turn to find a home now, so let me tell you a little bit about myself so you can get to know me!

Doggy daycare is great – I’m going there for “socialization,” whatever that is! All I know is I get to play with other dogs when I’m there, and it’s great fun! When meeting new dogs, slow introductions are better for me so I have time to get accustomed to my new friends. I am learning to play, run, chase and wrestle with other dogs, but foster mom says I can get a little too rough when I get too excited, so I’ll need you to call a time out so I can calm down. I really like other dogs, but I haven’t had a chance to meet any cats yet.

Walks are one of my favorite things, and I prefer to go potty on a leash. I’m not a fan of busy streets and cars zooming by me, though – I prefer a relaxing stroll in a quiet area. I ride in the car like a pro – foster mom tethers me, and I’m a calm and quiet passenger.

When it comes to being housetrained, I’m 95% percent of the way there with the use of a doggy door and going for walks. You can crate me if you want to, but foster mom says I can be trusted to have the run of the house. When it’s time for bed, I’d much rather sleep in your bed with you than in a crate – I love being around my people! I know some basic commands and would be happy to learn more if you’d like to teach me. I also like to collect shoes and toys and pile them in my bed for safekeeping, so if you can’t find your favorite pair of sneakers, you’ll know where to look for them!

At four years old and under 30 pounds, I’m the perfect age and size for lots of families. If my new family has kids, that’s great! Foster mom thinks I need an active fur sibling in my new home to play with and a nice yard to run around in. If you’re looking to add some sweetness and joy to your life, I’m your gal!
