Meet Star - update July 10
July 10: Star has come a long way. She can still get easily overwhelmed and be quite shy, but is now more open to new things and people.
Star is one of 6 puppies we took in and one of two who were/are particularly fearful and sensitive. We have held off on posting her until she gained a bit of confidence on foster care, but she will continue to need gentle and skilled guidance as she navigates growing into adulthood. She is still a fearful puppy.
She is not a puppy for a small child family (teens and up please) as she is easily startled and frightened. She would thrive in a quieter and smaller life and would not mind having a confident dog friend to help her navigate and feel secure. Puppies like this can be easily overwhelmed and it's difficult to hold back and wanting to show them to the world, but flooding with too much too soon can backfire with a puppy like this. Star is up to date on all core vaccines having had her first vaccine and two boosters. She has been dewormed three times and treated with a flea preventative. Her adoption fee does include her spay at our local Charlotte County vet partner. So if you are from outside the county, you would need to be able to bring her back or we could arrange to pay what we pay locally with your vet and you pay the difference. She has not met cats as yet, but at this age, she could be safely introduced using a proper introduction method and she should be fine.
