Stanley Black Labrador Retriever Mix Verona, NJ

Direct from the foster: He is literally the best boy. Stanley is a rescue that came to us from Lancaster, PA. He was rescued with two other dogs and brought into our all-foster rescue in Northern, New Jersey.

Stanley would do great in a home with other dogs as he is truly a Velcro dog! He loves to be with his humans or a canine companion at all times. When he goes outside, he loves to be with his foster sibling and will play non-stop for an hour. When inside the home, he will be with you at all times. When your family is in the living area, he will lay on the floor at your feet on his blanket with his toys. He can absolutely chill out with you, he does need to be entertained 24-7.

Some leash training is underway for Stanley with the foster and Cover K-9 as he adjusting to a world off of the farm. He is a bit fearful of the leash and harness, and will just need some reassurance to accept this change in his usual routine. When considering crate training, Stanley will go in the crate with the door left open, but he does not love it when it is closed. He would just need time and attention to get used to it for longer periods of time. All of these things are being worked on closely with his foster at this time.

He sleeps downstairs by his foster sibling at the bottom of the steps, because his foster sibling cannot go up and down the stairs. He is so sweet with his foster brother, and there is no barking or crying overnight for attention.

The foster keeps pee-pads by the back door, and he utilized them in the beginning, but he is 100% house broken but may have a bit of a small bladder! Using the pee-pads will be helpful to prevent any accidents in the house.

Socially, Stanley is absolutely the Mayor of his household! He wants to be everyone's best friends, and wants to love on any visitors to the foster home. He does a really cute leg stretch that looks a bit like a ballerina! He has a small limp and had a broken femur at some point in his life in Amish country that might not have healed perfectly, but that does not stop him. He can run with no problem, but would benefit from being on glucosamine to support his bone health going forward.
