Meet Sophie!

A delightful four-year-old German Shepherd Mix from Elgin, IL, whose heart is as big as her playful spirit and adorned with a beautiful brown brindle coat.

Sophie is a charming blend of energy and calm, perfectly suited for an active household that also appreciates quiet snuggle moments. She loves to run, play tug-of-war, and chew on bones, but she's equally content curling up next to you on the couch. This large lady, weighing in at 78 pounds, is a gentle giant with a sweet and loving disposition.

Sophie's obedience training has been extensive, and she's mastered commands like sit, come, down, shake, stay, place, quiet, off, and free. Her love for treats makes training sessions a joy! While she's a social butterfly with people and does wonderfully with cats, Sophie needs a bit more time to warm up to other dogs. She does best with calm, older dogs, and continued socialization will help her build confidence around new canine friends.

Sophie's crate and house training are impeccable. She's accustomed to being left alone for up to 8 hours a day, thanks to her ability to "place" herself on her dog cot, usually with a treat to keep her company.

Loud noises and new animals can make Sophie anxious, but her sweet and adaptable nature means she’s ready to give love when you need it most. She senses when you're upset and will come to offer comfort, embodying the true essence of a loyal companion.

Sophie has had her share of transitions and could benefit from a stable, loving home where she can get plenty of attention, exercise, and possibly further training to help with her anxiety. A fenced-in yard is a must. Her vaccinations are up-to-date, she’s spayed, and her playful yet gentle demeanor makes her a joy to be around!
