Meet GRIZZ

This big boy started off very timid, shy, super skinny, and no fur. It turned out all he needed was so much love! He now has all of his fur back, has put on so much weight, and has so much loves and kisses to give! He has come into his own personality, he is protective, strong, energetic, and needs discipline. He has such puppy energy, we take him on morning runs, he loves the beach, he loves playing with our other two dogs. One Pitbull terroir she is 10 years old and another that is a puppy at 5 months old. He can sit, stay, shake, lay down, and wait until called for his food. He is NOT fond of cats at all. I have a Catio in the back yard and have tried numerous times but he doesnt understand and cant control his excitement for something so unseen before. He is crate trained and puttied trained. With his strong body he needs work on pulling when walking on a leash and when he someone, something, or a new doggy he gets so excited he barks and goes crazy but it is only because he doesnt know. I learned big group settings may be to overwhelming for him, as I have tried to take him to the dog park but he yelps and goes crazy in an overwhelmed way but when he meets a dog one on one after the first sniff he understands and he is so happy and sweet. I did enforce a bark collar but I only used it when necessary to teach him that he doesnt need to bark to get his way, this is not a tool used daily nor very often it was only to show him that he cant bark to get his way. Once he realized he shouldnt be barking consistently he only barks to let me know when he has to epee or alert me if someone is walking up. Overall he is the sweetest boy with so much energy and strength and so much love he cant wait to give his future family. He needs a family that will give him time and love and space to run as well as a very active life style. He has been around children as low as a 1.5 year old, he showed only signs of love, the only things is, he such a big goof ball he doesnt know his strength so when he walks or runs or throws his body he doesnt understand his strength. to meet me email BARCFOSTER@HOUSTONTX.GOV
