Simon is a young DEAF English Shepherd/Australian Shepherd mix who is searching for his forever home. Simon is about 8 months old and 40lbs. He needs a home with herding breed experience who understands the amount of physical and mental activity a dog like him will require. Deaf herding dogs can be more prone to OCD or other behaviors if they are not properly exercised both mentally and physically, so someone who understands this and has previous herding dog and training experience is very important. A physically fenced yard is a must-NO EXCEPTIONS, and no shared walls (because he is deaf, he can be a bit loud when he is left alone). Simon needs a home with another young, active dog who will appreciate endless hours of play (currently he spends about 3 hours a day playing with his housemates), he truly thrives on the companionship of other dogs. Someone who works from home or is home often (hybrid work schedule) is important, as he does have some separation anxiety.

Simon is a super sweet, super smart boy who would excel at obedience, and may have what it takes for agility and nose work. He is extremely treat motivated, which goes a long way when it comes to training. He know some sign language (sit/stay/come/bed/shake/roll over), is house broken and crate trained(though he does have some crate anxiety, but so long as he is crated within eyesight of his best friend, he does just fine), and is fostered with other dogs, kids and cats. He loves to run an play and being deaf does not slow him, or his herding instincts, down one bit. He LOVES playing fetch, though not much into frisbees, and he enjoys taking dips in the pool. Simon is a good boy who we know will do amazing in the right home.
