Here’s Silas! This handsome hunk is the definition of a gentle giant. He was found as a stray in August, wandering the streets of Flint. Alone, frightened and underweight, he was brought to the Genesee animal shelter where he tried SO hard to keep calm but the stresses of the loud environment were just too much for him to endure day after day, week after week. Since moving into a foster home, he has become the epitome of cool, calm and collected. He plays great with other dogs in the home (he has two foster brothers), and loves to have the neighborhood kids come over to visit and pet him. After a few good introductory sniffs, he hasn’t been overly interested in the other pets in his foster home, including three guinea pigs and a bird, though he does love to chase and will gladly protect you from any squirrels you may come across on your walk together. Silas is a total gentleman.? He’s not prone to barking, he’s completely housetrained, and only plays with his toys (has been very respectful of furniture and our shoes). He goes in his kennel to lay down with no hesitation, and sleeps through the night. No food-protective behaviors at mealtime, but he is working with some food allergy issues and this will need to continue with his new adoptive family as well. Silas walks great on a leash, and rides in the car like a pro. We think he’s pretty perfect!
