Meet Shira

This is Shira. What Shira lacks in confidence, she makes up for in beauty. Shira has had a rough hand in life. She came from a puppy mill that was really neglectful. She lived life in a dark, dirty barn for the entire 4 years of life. Her only purpose was to make puppies. She’s very untrusting of humans, but is sweet. There is not a mean bone in her body, and she has made so much progress since coming into rescue 3 months ago. She needs someone with a lot of patience and understanding. She also needs a very secure 6ft fence and someone who can keep her safe. She’s still a major flight risk. She is good with other dogs, and we are confident she would do really well with another confident dog in the home, but we are also hoping she eventually would bond very strongly with the right person as well. She LOVES going to doggie daycare and the playgroups really bring out a playful, happy girl. She deserves to live a happy life! If you’re interested in meeting Shira, or learning more about her, please submit an application or an inquiry.

Puppy Mill Rescue Team New York State registration No. is RR400 as we are a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization. We rescue discarded dogs and puppies from puppy mills and place them with ethical rescues that will care for their veterinary needs, house them in volunteer foster homes, and eventually adopt them into loving families. The PMRT also works to educate the public about puppy mills and supports efforts to eradicate the existence of the inhumane mass dog breeding facilities commonly known as puppy mills. The PMRT promotes choosing pet adoption, over purchasing online or from a pet store, as the vast majority of those are sourced by puppy mills.
