Meet Shep in NJ - Affectionate & Charming Velcro Dog!

Meet Shep: a well-adjusted, people lover with a heart of gold! Looking for a companion with smarts, manners, and a touch of regal charm? Look no further than Shep, a handsome guy with an affectionate spirit. Rescued from spending his days wandering roads alone, Shep is so grateful for his new lease on life at his foster home. He's been able to show off his intelligence by learning many new commands, adjusting quickly to his foster family's routine, and even earning the title of "gem of a pyr" by his foster mom! He is house-trained, leash trained, does well meeting new people and dogs with proper introductions, and is a pretty good listener (for a pyrenees)! True to his breed, Shep is a watchful soul, offering calm companionship without being overly vocal or protective. While he’s not the best match for cats (he finds them a bit too interesting), he’ll make an amazing addition to a dog-loving household that spends quality time on walks or cuddling up for an evening together on the couch. His ideal forever home includes a 5-foot fenced yard, a pyr-ent or two to dote on, a friendly canine sibling, and a family who is home with him more often than not. Sound like your kinda guy? Give Shep a shot at your home and heart by filling out an application today!

Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted.

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.

Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
