Shasta Rat Terrier Mix Dunkirk, NY

This sweet girl is named Shasta. Shasta is a mixed breed pup who is approximately one and a half years old. She unfortunately came to us in not so great condition. Shasta had infected ears and skin. She has an issue with her spine that is believed to be caused by remaining in too small of a crate. She had never been outdoors. Shasta was terrified of everything. This amazing, brave girl is making big improvements here with us. Shasta loves the attention she’s getting from all the volunteers. She is going on short walks and doing great. She will need long term joint supplements and pain medication to keep her comfortable. We will be looking for a specific home for Shasta. Right now she is approximately 25lb but should weigh closer to 30lb. Shasta’s new owner should be able to lift her to get in the car or when she needs an extra boost. The home should be one story with few steps to the outside. Shasta would probably do well with a laid back cat or dog to keep company. We are either looking for an adult only home or with older teenagers for Shasta’s safety. Shasta deserves to be with people who will spoil and adore her.
