Meet SHADOW this SATURDAY, MARCH 22 from 12-3PM at our PET ADOPTION EVENT at the MERRIAM PETSMART located at 5810 Antioch Rd, Merriam, KS 66202. Come meet all the DOGS, CATS & PUPPIES waiting for their forever families, and let us help you find a new family member.
ALSO THIS WEEKEND:
SATURDAY, MARCH 22 from 12-3 PM: DOG ADOPTION EVENT at PETSMART in OLATHE (119th & Strang Line) with Heart of America Humane Society. We’ll have several dogs there looking for homes!
WEEKEND SHELTER HOURS:
SAT. & SUN., MARCH 22 & 23: Open 10AM - 3PM at KCK Animal Services. No appointment needed!

SHADOW is a super affectionate Lab mix! He is 4 years old and he weighs 70 lbs. Shadow loves attention and loves to cuddle. He has the goofiest little grin that's just adorable! He is good with other dogs. He's a very gentle guy and pretty calm. But he also loves to fetch a toy and run for short bursts-- he's quite fast and it's really funny! Then he's back to just wanting to be petted and cuddled! The poor guy has scars all over his face. We're not sure what he's been through, but he could not be any sweeter. This boy deserves a home that will spoil him with all the cuddles he could ever want!!
Sadly, SHADOW tested positive for heartworms. But please don’t let this scare you away! We just need to get him into a home during his treatment. The cost for the heartworm treatment is completely covered. We can provide you with more info about his heartworm treatment if you are interested in adopting or fostering him (we’d love to find him a foster home!). Once his treatment plan is completed, Shadow will be able to live a normal healthy life with no restrictions!
ADOPTING A PET
We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend. We are also open Monday through Friday by appointment. Please contact us by phone at 913-321-1445 or by email at petadoptions@kckpd.org to schedule your appointment during weekdays.
If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match.
Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older).
