Meet Shad
Shad is Ready for Adoption!
Hey, I’m Shad! I’m a goofy 4-year-old good boy searching for a very special forever home. I’m full of energy and love to play! I just want to make my people happy, and I enjoy daily snuggles with my foster family. Did I mention I’m a good boy? I’m housebroken, crate-trained, and can be left alone without accidents! I’m good with cats, too! I’m truly a happy boy when my surroundings are ideal.
I need a very quiet home where I can thrive. Noise makes me really anxious and causes me to react with a nip. As the weather warms up, I’ve been facing some challenges. The sounds of kids playing, loud trucks, planes, and other dogs can still make me anxious. But guess what? With the patience and support from my foster family, I’ve been improving a lot! I can get used to some noises from neighbors, but the quieter, the better.
I’m very smart and learn new things every day! Routine is super important for me, and I can get comfortable enough to get to know someone in time. I even have a friend at the local scrapyard who’s been really patient with me. He gives me treats and pets me through the window during our weekly visits! When my foster family has guests over, it’s best for me to be gated in another room. I’ll bark and whimper a bit, but I do settle down. With consistency and routine, I can get to know visitors and become comfortable with them. However, my ideal forever home would not have frequent guests.
Walks need to be in quiet areas with few people, and I have to be on a harness. Imagine us strolling together during a peaceful walk on a beautiful day! A fenced in yard would be ideal for me, as I have lots of energy! I’m a healthy boy and weigh around 25 lbs. My foster family adores me but believes I would be my best self if I lived in a much quieter neighborhood.
I need a patient forever family living in a quiet home that is willing to work with my reactivity and triggers. I’ve made such great progress in my foster home and know I can learn to trust and love someone new, just like I’ve done with my foster family!
Requirements:
- Must be able to provide a quiet home and environment
- Must provide consistent routine
- Must have fenced-in yard
- Cats ok
- No dogs
- No apartments
- No children
- No social hosts
