Meet Scout
With a guesstimated birthday in May 2023, Scout weighs about 40 lb.
Scout is affectionate and loves other dogs. Being a herding breed, he has a tendency to nibble on his friends, but has learned not to bite hard as they won't play with him.
Scout has good house manners and keeps his 42" crate clean overnight. He'll grab things and run, playing catch-me-if-you-can. He's one of the most playful dogs we've had in our foster home. His foster mom describes him as "naughty, but totally adorable".
Scout rides well in a car and will load up with little encouragement. He should be tethered to keep him from infringing on the driver's space.
Scout is leash savvy, but will pull to get to exciting things. He is ignores the cats in his foster home, but will play chase-the-cat if they'll run.
Scout is nervous around small children so should only be adopted into a home with children 12 years or older, or ones who are gentle with dogs.
**************************************************
Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.
If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.
For adult dogs, our adoption fee covers a standard canine vaccine, a rabies vaccine, heartworm (HW) test, HW prevention, and deworming if recommended by our vet.
Puppies will have two vaccinations, deworming, and heartworm prevention if age-appropriate. An additional fee for the 3rd puppy vaccination and rabies vaccination, if administered, will be added to the adoption fee.
If you are adopting an intact dog, a refundable spay/neuter deposit is required, and a vet reference may be required.
Foster dogs are shown on a rotating schedule at our Saturday Adoption Events which occur several times a month at Waggin Tail Resale store located at 220 Joyceton Church Rd, Lenoir. Additionally, Meet & Greets can be scheduled with a specific dog on Saturdays (11am-3pm) in our Adoption Center at Waggin' Tail Resale. Additional times for Meet & Greets may be scheduled depending on the schedules of Adoption Counselors and Foster Parents.
Shelter Dogs can be seen at the Bunch Anderson Shelter on Saturdays from 12pm-3:30pm, or by appointment. To request an appointment, e-mail: info@foothillscaninerescue.org. We will respond within 24-48 hours M-F. (BAS is also located at 220 Joyceton Church Rd)
