Meet Scoobert
Scoobert was an owner surrender after owning him for only three months. Scoobert was adopted from the NYCACC only to be returned.
At the shelter he was very stressed and didn't do well. He was then slated for euthanasia.
We are grateful a foster stepped up to save him,
Name of foster Scoobert
Approximate age 2 years
Approximate weight 60 lbs
Breed (s) Black Mouth Cur, Belgian Malinos etc.
Spayed or neutered? Neutered
Good with:
kids? No
strangers? Needs a slow approach.
other dogs? Dog selective
cats? Yes. Loves cats.
On leash? Good
Housetrained? Yes.
Crate trained? Yes he likes his crate
I imagine Scooby in a house with an active family who would love to take him out on walks. He could probably be outside for hours and just want to play. His forever home should be patient and loving with him. He is a dog that loves attention. Ideally, I would love for his new home to have a yard and previous experience with owning a dog.
Interesting quirks/behaviors: He is truly very playful and will randomly play with his squeak toys (which are his favorite!) and look for praise. If no one plays with him, he will throw his squeak toy and try to play fetch by himself. He will also let you touch his paws but for a bath, you have to go inside the tub with him, or else he will refuse.
He knows the following commands - “sit”, “stay”, “go to bed”, and “come here”.
He does not like it when a stranger gets too close and will try to jump, and is dog reactive. Can also be food aggressive but will let you be near the food bowl - just don’t try to touch his face while he eats.
Scooby is such a gentle soul who loves cuddles and love. He is honestly one of the best dogs I’ve ever met.
