Meet Sasha - In Foster @ Puppy Love Daycare!
Meet Sasha! This little girl was found stray and brought to JPAWS. No one claimed her and we decided to pull her for adoption. She's between 1-2 years old and some mix of a dapple dachshund. She is dog friendly and cat friendly but she's been on 2 sleepovers with cats in the home and she was too much energy for the cats. So we are thinking a home without cats would be best. She wasn't trying to hurt the cats, she just wants to play. The sleepovers both said she was a wonderful dog and ate her breakfast and dinner like she should and slept in the bed with them through the night without a peep. She also seems potty trained when in a home.
She was adopted for about 3 months and then they decided to return her because they couldn't get her in a potty training routine. Honestly, we are thinking it was more human error, than dog error. We offered to take Sasha back about a month ago when she first emailed with problems because we had the open space. The adopter wanted to continue to try so we didn't push the issue. We pulled more dogs from the shelter and filled our empty cages. Fast forward 2 weeks and the adopter is not being so great and then shows up Monday with Sasha without warning. Of course we had no cage space available. So for that day she sat in our Director's Office and played with toys and sat in her dog bed, greeted visitors and for 4 hours, never had an accident. Thankfully, Angela at Puppy Love Daycare is one of our part timers and longtime volunteers and agreed to take Sasha so she didn't have to go back to the shelter. Angela is OBSESSED with her. She's loving playing with the other dogs. They think she is also crate trained because she never potties in her kennel. We are thinking it was human error and not Sasha error. She's been an absolute angel to every volunteer and staff member that meets her! Some of our cat fosters even transported her from Jefferson Feed to Puppy Love and they said she was just absolutely perfect in the car too! She may look big in the pictures but she is only 17lbs.
Adoption fee includes vaccines, spay/neuter surgery, microchip and a heartworm test. Any dog that tests positive for heartworms can be treated through our Fix-A-Heart Program. Adopter has to buy a year supply of heartworm prevention before treatment begins.
