Sarah Australian Shepherd Middletown, MD

Sarah is an 18 month old Aussie with a nub tail. She weighs 35 pounds. She was rescued with her sisters from a backyard breeding situation and is in search of a loving home! She is extremely cute and has unusual eyes that many folks say remind them of Dobby from the Harry Potter movies.
Sara is a high Velcro girl who doesn’t let her foster dad get too far out of sight!

Sarah loves other dogs and is good (and sometimes playful) with the resident cat. She walks well on leash, without pulling. She is a medium energy dog who loves to play with her foster dad and her dog siblings. She would be a great companion for dog sports, hiking or other outdoor activities.

With those she trusts, she is very affectionate. However, she is indifferent or cautious with strangers and wary of strangers visiting her home. She has attempted to herd a few out the door. Her foster dad is working on desensitization and counterconditioning around visitors and is making good progress. Sarah would do best in a home without younger children. Their play could bring out her herding instincts.

Sarah doesn't appear to have received much socialization as a puppy and many things in the human world are new to her. She is cautious in new situations until she discovers there is nothing to fear. Her foster dad is working to remediate her lack of socialization and has seen steady progress. She recently visited PetSmart and Home Depot and remained calm and well behaved. She even took a treat from Santa.

Sarah will do best in a home with a friendly, well socialized dog who will be a role model she can play with and snuggle. She needs a family who will be patient and gently build her confidence. They will be rewarded with a loyal, loving and playful dog who will cover their faces in kisses daily and seek to be with them always.
