That face! Adorable Samuel is a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix born at the end of July. He’s everything a smart, active puppy should be: playful, curious and loving. Also right on track is his interest in food – he’s a growing boy! Sign him up for cozy cuddles at the end of a fun day.

Samuel’s foster mom chose “Hot to Go” by Chappell Roan as his theme song: he’s young, fresh, zesty and ready for life! He loves to learn, making huge strides with leash walking, basic obedience commands, and overall confidence. He is learning to keep 4 on the floor for polite greetings, how to chill in his crate, and what he can (and should not) chew on during his teething phase.

Connection is the name of the game with Samuel. He is completely attentive to his humans and anything they are doing – he wants in! Families that are looking for an engaged, smart dog and plan to incorporate him smack dab in the middle of their activities are a great fit. He wants a life of play (fetch is favorite), daily exercise to keep his people healthy, and outings to see the big world.

Samuel met elementary school-aged kids and loved the attention they showered on him. Kids that are old enough to help reinforce good behaviors are a good fit. He is perfecting his housetraining skills and needs a potty break every few hours - but don't worry, he happily sleeps through the night. Obedience classes are a must for this smarty, and the learning doesn’t have to stop there.

He would enjoy the company of another friendly pup in his new home. With an engaged family, he could be an only dog. We prefer a physically fenced yard for Samuel, or a mature family with a history of keeping dogs safe on leash.

As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Samuel’s adoption fee is $550 + MN sales tax. He is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. He will be microchipped soon and neutered by the rescue at the age of 6 months at one of the vet clinics we work with. Samuel has an umbilical hernia that will be repaired at the time of his neuter surgery. It does not cause him pain or discomfort. The cost of both procedures are included in his adoption fee.

All of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
