Meet Sage

Sage was brought to us on the brink of death due to neglect and abuse, but he is a fighter! He has a clear bill of health and is ready for his forever home!

Sage was dumped at a local Petsmart. He could barely stand, couldn't walk, was incredibly anemic, completely emaciated, and was only 5 months old at the time. He had no interest in food, our vets said he likely experienced trauma with food because of how he acted. He had no clue what toys were either. Our vets worked hard to keep him alive. His body denied the blood and plasma transfusions so all we could do was wait and hope he could recover on his own. To our surprise, he pulled through. He came to us with completely white gums and barely any blood left in his body but Sage is a fighter!

Sage is SO sweet, loving, a total velcro dog, SMART, and very funny. He came to us not knowing what toys were, what dog food was, or even how to play. He has now completely blossomed and is able to be a puppy for once! He loves to snuggle, he enjoys playing with humans and other dogs, will be your shadow following you around the house, and whines with so much excitement whenever you tell him how good of a boy he is! For a puppy, he is very calm, but he still has typical puppy-tendencies. He is learning basic commands and picks up on them VERY quickly, he learned the "go potty" command in just 3 tries. He truly loves to please and wants to do the right thing. He's working on his potty training still and not chewing things he shouldn't be, but those are both normal puppy behaviors and will be resolved in time.

He is about 8 months old and will be a big boy as he is a German Shepherd mix with big paws. He will need an experienced and active owner who will dedicate time to training as he grows up. He’s incredibly smart so he’ll need guidance as he hits his "teenage" year. He would do best in a home with another dog that he can play with or in a home where his humans are home frequently. He has some separation anxiety so he will need some support in getting through that trauma, but we believe it can be fixed with training and time.
