This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

Meet Rusty Emerald - a one year month old, Lab / Mountain Cur mix, who weighs 47 pounds (as of 12/11/24). Rusty Emerald and his sister, Lily, were found as strays and were trying to fend for themselves before a wonderful couple scooped them up and came to their rescue. Unfortunately, Rusty somehow broke his leg and had to have his right front leg amputated.

His foster mom shares "Rusty is doing very well and is a fun little guy! He is busy during the day and goes to sleep in the evening around 7 or 8 lying on the couch next to me like a little baby. He would really like another dog or person who would spend time playing with him. None of our dogs want to play as much as he wants to do. So boring! But he is also happy to entertain himself (as you can see in the video). And we are old people and not playing with him enough! :) I think he would really enjoy learning commands and that might tire him out a little. Despite his rough beginnings, this sweet boy has tons of love to give! We think Rusty would love to join a family that has kids running around or are an active family who could bring Rusty on adventures (walks, hikes, etc). He loves to explore the world around him and would do great with a family who can bring him along on adventures! But then that family would be rewarded with his world class cuddling ability. This boy is quite a gem!"
