Rumble's young mother Dixie (see photo) arrived in a Central California shelter enormously pregnant. Pregnant dogs - especially black & tan dogs - don't stand much of a chance of survival in an overcrowded valley shelter.
Dixie and her 6 surviving puppies came to the Pacific Northwest to find a safe space to grow up in.
The puppies have been DNA tested. They are over half Chihuahua, 10 percent poodle with a dozen other breeds tossed in for flavoring. Mum is a low rider who closely resembles a standard Dachshund. Same personality too - stubborn and opinionated and tough girl. Smart and a fast learner, as well as a great off leash hiking companion. These babies are NOT going to be couch potatoes. They are go go go!
Rumble is 12 weeks old. He has had both sets of puppy shots. The pups are well-socialized with other dogs and a variety of surfaces and have been (off and on) using a litter box because of the cold wet weather. They are outgoing and friendly and NOISY. The expectation is they will be under 25 pounds full grown, but there are no guarantees. Rumble is the smallest and the NOISIEST puppy in the litter. He is developing into a very confident and active dog. He loves chasing his sibling around the half acre yard here and mauling pine cones.
The puppies are located in Clatskanie, Oregon. Their adoption fee is $250.
