Meet Ruby and Lumi

This sweet pair of dogs are new to our rescue. They are a bonded pair and we will not separate them. They must be adopted together. They play together, sleep together and groom each other and are uneasy when separated. They needed rescue when their owner became very sick and was no longer able to care for them.

Ruby and Lumi have settled in nicely to their foster home. They were very nervous at first but with a gentle, loving approach they have become more confident and playful.

Ruby and Lumi are not used to being alone for long hours - they require a home where someone is with them for most of the day. They love attention and being with their person! They are both nervous of new people, more so Ruby than Lumi. Ruby is uneasy with men but with time and a gentle approach she comes around. They are housetrained but need to go out often during the day for bathroom breaks otherwise they will have accidents.

They are vocal when they hear a strange noise, or when someone comes to the door or when people are visiting. For this reason, Ruby and Lumi are best suited to a house and not an apartment or condo. They love to run around the back yard and chase each other - a house with a safely fenced back yard is required.

This dear pair are young, very active dogs with a lot of energy! They love to go for walks and require an adopter who will provide lots of daily activity and playtime to keep them busy and happy. At this time, they are getting two long walks a day plus play time in the back yard and lots of attention and activity in the home. They are very smart and eager to learn and respond well to praise and positive reinforcement. They are easy to walk on leash and are fine when meeting people and other dogs.

They are not used to small children and would be best in a quiet, calm home with older children (12 years +).

Ruby is a Pomeranian. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccines. Her blood work is all normal. Her birthday is August 30, 2020 and she weighs 2.9 kilos. We have had her teeth cleaned and she required one extraction. Ruby has had anal gland issues in the past so it is important to have them checked on a regular basis. She has a mild heart murmur that does not cause her any issues at this time but it must be checked on a regular basis. She also has bilateral luxating patellas in both hind legs. At this time, they do not cause her any pain and her mobility is fine but it is important that she remains active and maintains a healthy weight. They must be checked by her vet on a regular basis. Ruby was shaved in her previous home and there are areas where her fur is missing. We have had her groomed but it will take time for her fur to come back and it is possible it may not even out. She has very dry skin so we are adding an Omega 3 supplement daily to her food. As with all Pomeranians, she must be groomed regularly and brushed and combed on a daily basis to avoid mats and keep her skin healthy.

Lumi is a long haired Chihuahua. Her birthday is Jan. 4, 2020 and she weighs 2.7 kilos. She is allergic to most proteins but does well on a good quality venison or turkey dog food. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccines. Her bloodwork is normal. We recently did dentistry on Lumi. She required 10 extractions. She was born with a misaligned jaw and her teeth were not properly spaced. She is doing well after her dentistry. Due to her jaw she needs her kibble to be mashed up as she does have trouble swallowing hard bits. She will sometimes cough when she gets something stuck in her throat. Lumi has very short legs and is hesitant on stairs. She is not able to jump up or down from the sofa or bed.
