Meet Ruby

Foster to adopt home needed!

Here’s a real gem, ready to bring her sunshine into your life! Ruby is an 18-month, 35 lb./“fun size” Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix who came from a deplorable hoarding situation in Kentucky. After little socialization as a pup, she has gained tremendous confidence in foster care over the last several months. Ruby takes in every nuance of her surroundings, in true herding breed fashion, and thus needs extra time to get to know new surroundings and friends. She has learned that her world can be a wonderful place and has also taken cues well from the older two dogs in her foster home.

Once familiar, Ruby catches on quickly and gives her love and appreciation to you. She keeps track of you in the house and has excellent recall outdoors. Ruby loves to play in the snow, a romp in the woods or a game of fetch with a ball or frisbee. We think she would be fine as a single pup or with an active doggie sibling. Once indoors, Ruby is happy to chew on a bone or settle on her dog bed, sit on a warm lap or just relax beside you. She gets along well with other dogs in her foster home, but has not been around cats. Ruby would likely do well with an active adult(s) or a family with children 10 years old or older. She would prefer a quieter household, but would certainly meet visitors with proper introductions.

Ruby is spayed, up-to-date on her preventatives, housebroken, crate trained and ready to share her fun, loving spirit with you! Take the time to meet her and you’ll discover your next loyal four-legged sidekick! Due to the extended time Ruby has spent with us, she has a reduced adoption fee of $250.

Ruby is ready to shine in your home! She is a 16-month, 35 lb./“fun size” Australian Shepherd mix who came from a deplorable hoarding situation in Kentucky. She had very little socialization as a pup, but has gained tremendous confidence in foster care over the last couple months. That said, she may still need a slow introduction and take her time getting to know new surroundings and friends. She has learned that her world can be a wonderful place and has also taken cues well from the older two dogs in her foster home.

Ruby is a people pleaser and love bug at heart. She is treat-motivated, smart as a whip and with consistency has learned several commands in foster. Ruby has learned “come”, “sit” and “down” and can be taught a lot more commands with consistency since she is a pretty quick study. Heck, we even think she could be a great agility dog with proper training!

Ruby is housebroken and crate-trained beautifully, sleeping through the night in her crate and during the day while her foster is at work. Once home, her foster takes her outside for a rousing game of fetch with her ball or frisbee. Ruby needs to burn off her “zoomies” and stretch her legs for a run (everyday!), so a fenced-in yard would be great or a dedicated jogger/hiker looking for a buddy! Ruby will settle down nicely afterwards, chewing a toy to relax before “crashing” in her dog bed or snuggling by her foster.

Give Ruby a little time to settle in your home, and you’ll have a real gem. She is a fun-loving young girl whom with you can skip the trials and tribulations of a puppy and adopt a more mature/less chewy dog instead!

Due to her size and acivity level, foster to adopt requirements are:

•Living within 500 miles of Adams, NY.
•Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered.
•She should do fine with active, like sized dogs in the home.
•Homes with children over 10 years old should be ok since she is a very active girl at this time.
•Willing to have current dogs/family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure they are an acceptable match.
•Having time available to care for, socialize and start training of a new pet.
•Having a fenced yard and previous pet ownership experience is preferred.

An adoption donation of $350 is being asked as an adoption donation. Ruby is current on vaccines, intestinal, heartworm and external parasite treatment and she has been spayed.

9/10/24:

We'd like to reintroduce you to Ruby, our 1 year old ~35# a Australian Shepherd mix. She is a lover and people pleaser that will be your best friend once she gets to know you. She sleeps through the night in her crate and is crate-trained during the day while her foster is at work. Ruby is doing very well with housebreaking, too! She is treat motivated and has learned “come”, “sit” and “down” and can be taught a lot more commands with consistency since she is a pretty quick study! Ruby will need room to run, preferably a fenced yard where she will time to work out her “zoomies”. She has just started to play frisbee!(Okay, she’s not trained and ready for competition yet, but she has been having fun and will entertain you!) We think she would be a candidate for agility training, with time and patience.

Ruby walks quite well on-leash, but will need some brushing up. She is a bit submissive and continues to build her confidence in foster. She does take her time getting to know people and will need slow introductions to give her the best tools to make great friends. She has not been around cats but she does get along with her foster dog siblings. She has taken cues well from the older two dogs in her foster home and would do well with an active person or family. Given a little time to settle in, Ruby will shine in your home!

Due to her size and acivity level, foster to adopt requirements are:

•Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY.

An adoption donation of $350 is being asked, if you decide to adopt, but fostering is free!! She had her vet check, is current on vaccines, intestinal, heartworm and external parasite treatment and she has been spayed.

Foster or foster to adopt homes needed!

We're going to introduce you to the last of our new arrivals that came in yesterday. All are looking for foster to adopt homes so that we can get to know them better and let them settle in. If you're willing to open up your heart and home to a new addition, fill out an application today! And don't forget to call your vet to give consent to talk to us when we call tomorrow!

Meet Roxy (bl/tan) and Ruby (chocolate/tan/white) ~1 yr mid sized Australian Sheperd mixes, ~35# and Lacy (red merle) ~5 months old. These poor dogs came from a hoarding situation with 12 dogs in total and some deceased dogs on the property as well. Despite their bleak past, they are the happieat group of dogs wr have met in quite some time. They would be perfect with active families and a big yard to run around in. Maybe yours?

Roxy is a nice blend of play then relaxation. She runs like the wind for several laps then will plop down in the grass for a quick rest before starting all over again.

Ruby is more active then Roxy but very sweet as well. She loves to play and run around then will flop over on her back for a belly rub. She is equal parts love and play and would also do best in an active family.

Lacy is the puppy of the group. She is a happy go lucky girl with a lot of energy and kisses to share as well! She would also do great in an active home with a good yard to run in and maybe a like sized dog friend or two!
