Meet Royal

Royal is a pitty who is around 6 years old. His age is approximate because he was rescued from the streets of Texas. The rescue organization will not take him back. He is neutered, micro-chipped, and house-trained. He has not had any formal training, but he responds well to basic voice commands. His last veterinary exam was on 9/17/24, and the vet found no health concerns. He is scheduled to receive routine vaccinations on 11/15/24.
Royal is an absolute sweetheart, and he is very trainable. He has not had any formal training, but he responds well to basic voice commands. He bonds quickly with his people, and he is a great companion dog. He is athletic, affectionate, and super cuddly.
I don't have the ability to give Royal the attention that he needs because I am a full-time, stay-at-home dad of a 20-month-old, and we live in a tiny apartment on the second floor- it is difficult for me to even take Royal outside to go potty because I have to bring my toddler son with us.
I've had Royal for about two months after he was rehomed due to an incident in which he became overexcited during play. At the time, he was interacting with someone in a roughhousing situation, but Royal has never shown aggression toward people without provocation. He thrives in a calm and kind environment, and when treated with respect and understanding, he is gentle and well-mannered.
I have no concerns about him being aggressive toward my 7-year-old and 20-month-old sons. However, due to his size (60 lbs) and playful energy, smaller children may be at risk for accidental bumps or collisions. Inside, Royal is usually quite relaxed, though he can become alert if he notices another dog outside.
Royal can be a little reactive towards dogs he doesn't know, but he has lived happily with another dog and a cat without incidents between them (see photos). He needs an experienced handler to manage reactive behaviors. A home with a securely fenced yard for him to run in would be best.
Royal endears himself to everyone he meets. He loves a whip cream shot and a good scratch on the shoulders. He is an expert at splooting and turning into a bed potato. He's a good boy, and he deserves an owner or family that can help him be his best self.
