Meet Roy
Meet Roy! We’re not exactly sure what mix he is, but he’s 100% good boy! Our guess is he’ll grow to around 10 pounds.
Roy doesn’t have much of a backstory that we know—he ended up as an orphaned pup at the El Paso Animal Shelter before making his way to Aska’s Animals, thanks to Dog Is My Copilot. He’s currently hanging out in a foster home with two big dogs and a cat, and he’s doing great with them! He respects their space and reads their cues, but mostly he just wants to know where his people are so he can be near (or on) them.
He’s got a playful side and loves his toys, but his energy doesn’t last long—he’s all about the snuggles after a little playtime. Potty training is going pretty well, though because he’s so small, it does take some dedication. We take him outside every hour when he’s roaming around and right after he’s let out of his pen, and he’s been using potty pads indoors too.
Roy’s a brave little guy—he’s unfazed by the big world around him and has been friendly with everyone, adults and kids alike. He does great in his crate, rides well in the car, and loves meeting people. Since he’s tiny, he’s a bit delicate, so a home with gentle kids would be best.
He’d make an awesome sidekick for someone looking for a travel-sized buddy who’s good with other pets and loves being a lap dog. He’d also be perfect for a first-time dog owner since he’s been so easygoing (aside from needing consistent potty training). Because he’s still so small, socializing him—like taking him to Puppy Preschool—will help him stay confident and curious as he grows.
