Meet Roxie
Roxie was found by her rescuer outside a local museum. She seemed to be wanting to learn more history and be smarter in order to appeal to a new family :)
With a guesstimated birthday in Jan. 2024, Roxie weighed 12 lb at her vet exam in July 2024. At her spay in Aug. she weighed 20 lb.
Roxie is doing well with house manners and her foster takes her out for a potty break every hour during the day to help reinforce this. If she potties, she is given a treat of kibble when she gets back inside (Carrying a treat on potty breaks will distract her from the "business at hand".). If she doesn't potty, she is put in her crate with a treat until the next potty break. She will mess in her crate overnight, so is being kept contained in the kitchen to allow her to get away from it.
Roxie enjoys going places with her people. She is nervous in cars, but loves to be where her family is so tolerates the drive. Continued trips will help her accustom to driving places.
Roxie likes polite dogs. She can be assertive with dogs who are impolite, but is learning tolerance with her pack of foster dogs. She has a high play level so would enjoy a playmate in her new home. She is very people oriented.
Roxie ignores the cats in her foster home and the horse in the pasture next door. She loves to run with her doggy friends. She is leash savvy but will pull to get to exciting things - and most things are exciting to her :)

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.
If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.
For adult dogs, our adoption fee covers a standard canine vaccine, a rabies vaccine, heartworm (HW) test, HW prevention, and deworming if recommended by our vet.
Puppies will have two vaccinations, deworming, and heartworm prevention if age-appropriate. An additional fee for the 3rd puppy vaccination and rabies vaccination, if administered, will be added to the adoption fee.
If you are adopting an intact dog, a refundable spay/neuter deposit is required, and a vet reference may be required.
Scheduled Meet & Greets occur on Saturdays in our Adoption Center at Waggin' Tail Resale (220 Joyceton Church Road) in Lenoir between 10am & 3:30pm. Additional times may be available depending on schedules of Adoption Counselors and Foster Parents. To make an appointment, send an e-mail to: info@foothillscaninerescue.org. We will respond within 24-48 hours M-F.
