Meet Rosie

Rosie is the epitome of the sweetest cuddliest dog you will meet. She is about 2 years old and 45 lbs. Rosie has one bright blue eye, that is just mesmerizing to look at, as she stares at you lovingly. Rosie is crate trained and house trained, although there is always a risk of an accident with a new dog being in a new setting. She is the biggest cuddler, so if you never want personal space again, Rosie is your girl. She can be seen running in the foster's fenced yard with the biggest smile on her face, as if this was the first time she was relaxed enough to enjoy a home and a yard with other dogs. She does well with dogs of all sizes, as well as kids. She has not been around cats while in foster home so we are not sure how she would do. Her new home would ideally have a fenced yard so that she can continue to run free in a safe space. However, she would do okay without a fence if there is a good amount of exercise. She has learned to love playing fetch, although she is still working on bringing the ball fully back!

Here's this special girl's back story:

In January, Paws Across Pittsburgh received a call about Rosie, a pregnant dog struggling through labor. The woman she was currently with was getting worried about her being in labor for so long. This woman had just received Rosie from her homeless friend the day before. The original owner didn't want Rosie having babies on the street, so she gave her up so the babies would be born in a safer environment. She was also told that the puppies' dad was a Cane Corso/Great Dane. Rosie was surrendered to PAP in order to get her seen by a vet ASAP.

One of our amazing volunteers immediately went and picked her up to hand her off to another foster who would take her to Veterinary Emergency Group (Pittsburgh, PA). Dr. Crowling, Dr. DiPaola and their team went right to work.

After an ultrasound, only 4 heartbeats were detected even though there were 8 pups that could be seen on the screen. Due to their large size, Rosie could not have the babies naturally. The VEG team performed an emergency C-Section and 8 beautiful healthy babies were born! Our very own foster was even able to help the staff with resuscitating the newborns.

She will be available for adoption on 4/1/25! Apply to adopt her through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale 15144. KL#16182. Find the application at www.pawsacrosspittsburgh.com/adopt.
