Volunteer notes, 6/17/24: It is amazing what you can learn about a dog just by spending some extra time with them. On our third meeting, Rosco's tough guy act started to crumble. He took treats very gently from me, sat on command, and even showed a little wariness around inanimate objects like furniture and toys. (He didn't know what toys were; it was sad.) I think he might be secretly shy! One thing is for sure, now that he's decided I'm an OK person, he is all about snuggling and begging for snacks. Is he used to being treated like a possession rather than a family member? He might need a little help learning how to be a pet! Volunteer notes, 6/3/24: Roscoe is a ruggedly handsome outdoorsman with a luxuriously thick coat and an independent streak. He did well on the leash and in the play yard, where he inspected the perimeter thoroughly and took care of all business in a timely manner. He was unconcerned with any attempts of dogs or humans to distract him from his goal. He was less eager to return to the kennel and needed to be wrangled. First impression is that this gorgeous boy is an alpha and would prefer an active home.
