Meet Ron

Ron and his sister, Ginny, wandered into a local factory. Although put out several times, they returned to visit and Ron finally picked a particular person to lay beside despite the noisy machinery.

With a guesstimated birthday in March 2022, Ron weighed about 50 lb at his most recent vet visit in May 2024.

Ron is a sweet goofball. He likes all polite dogs after an initial introduction and loves wrestling / running with his friends.

Ron has some crate anxiety. He is able to crate about 2 hours without peeing in his crate, but his foster gates him in the kitchen at night which allows him to relax on his bed and wait for morning - he gets a potty break before his people go to bed and another one as soon as they get up in the morning.

Ron is leash savvy but will pull to get to exciting things. He walks on a harness to protect his esophagus from pressure. Car rides are a particular favorite as it means a pup cup or an adventure.

Ron is tolerant of cats. He will sniff vigorously if they are accessible, which can be disturbing to cats who aren't used to dogs.

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.

If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.

For adult dogs, our adoption fee covers a general wellness exam, a standard canine vaccine, a rabies vaccine, deworming, a current heartworm test, and are on a monthly heartworm prevention.

For puppies over the age of 14 weeks, our adoption fee covers a general wellness exam, deworming, and the first 3 puppy vaccines. If the puppy is still in our care at 16 weeks, we will also provide the rabies vaccine.

If you are adopting an intact dog, a refundable spay/neuter deposit is required, and a vet reference may be required.

Scheduled Meet & Greets occur on Saturdays in our Adoption Center at Waggin' Tail Resale (220 Joyceton Church Road) in Lenoir between 10am & 3:30pm. Additional times may be available depending on schedules of Adoption Counselors and Foster Parents. To make an appointment, send an e-mail to: info@foothillscaninerescue.org. We will respond within 24-48 hours M-F.
