Rollie Pollie Ollie Pug & Miniature Pinscher Mix Lewisburg, TN

Meet Rollie Pollie Ollie! Rollie is a 2 year old Pug X Miniature Pinscher mix and weighs about 15 lbs. Rollie came to us due to his family going through a divorce, and he has had a tough time adjusting. He is currently in a foster home and is making incredible strides with his attentive foster mom working with him! Rollie is crate trained, but is very defensive while being crated (he needs to be allowed to exit his crate on his own, as reaching into his crate makes him very nervous and he will nip when feeling threatened). Rollie is working on his house training and is doing much better now that he is neutered; however he is still prone to marking. He will also potty in his crate if he gets anxious. He gets along well with other dogs and is learning how to play with a group! He also gets along with cats and usually doesn't pay them any atention. Rollie adores children (especially young kids) and does well with adults who go slowly with him. He is more comfortable with women than he is men at the moment, but is slowly working towards befriending more men. Rollie loves riding in the car and does well free-riding. He is also learning to walk on leash without pulling. Rollie is a treat hound and is very food motivated; we haven't found a treat that he doesn't like yet! He knows how to "sit" on command and is learning his "down" command. ***Rollie is currently on a regimen of Fluoxetine (anti-anxiety medication) to help manage his anxiety and nervous behaviors. He started the medication on 6/26/23 and will continue for 6-8 weeks before being re-evaluated. If he is doing well on Fluoxetine, he will continue it long term. Rollie is still available for adoption while on his mediation trial, and the remainder of his prescription would carry over into his newly adopted home.***

***UPDATE 9/17/23: Rollie is doing great on his Fluoxetine and it is helping with his anxiety. He is not nearly as stressed meeting new people and will approach new friends on his own! He is also not as nervous around new dogs or during group play times. Yay Rollie!***
