Meet River

Would you like a friend to go for a morning walk, hike or jog with you? I enjoy
being active and would love to keep you company! I take 1-2 mile walks several
times a day. I am athletic and would also love to play chase in the yard with
another young dog! My name is River. I am a 2.9 year old, female, mixed lab with
a fox red coat. I am looking for my forever home!

I was undergoing heart worm treatment for a few months so I wasn’t allowed to
be active. Recently, I’ve had the chance to live my best life! I started to play with
a neighbor dog and it is so much fun! You should see us chase one another all
over the yard! I am fast, agile and friendly when we have play dates.! I will need
one final heart worm check-up in January to officially be declared heart worm
free!

I would enjoy living with someone who can be patient and get to know me. In my
last home I was only given four days to adjust before I was given back because I
barked too much. I do bark to say hello to other dogs when I’m on a walk or
looking out the window. Sometimes I pull on the leash too. I’m smart though and
I’m learning to settle so I can get a treat!

I love to be around ladies. They make me feel safe as soon as I meet them. I take
a few minutes to warm up to gentlemen. I may bark at them to see how they
react. I’m learning that they are kind too! I love to sit next to my foster dad on
the sofa. He gives me belly rubs while I fall asleep next to him! I am always open
to snuggling and any attention you will give me. I enjoy being around kids when I
meet them on my walks. I could share a house with older children who won’t be
bothered by my barking. I’ve heard I’m a sweetheart and don’t want to upset
anyone! Now let’s talk about cats. I’ve seen them in my yard and I bark at them.
Two cats live across the street and I’m happy not to have to share my house with
them.

I’m a trustworthy gal and I don’t need to be in a crate when I’m home alone. I
enjoy chewing on bones and ripping apart stuffed toys, so don’t worry about
leaving your shoes laying around! I like to sleep at night on my dog cushion or the
sofa while the humans sleep upstairs. Have I mentioned that I’m house trained
too? One more thing… I love to go on car rides. Would you like to take me on a
ride to my FURever home?
