Meet Rena
We treated her for her wounds, ticks and we tested her for tick borne diseases but that came up negative and we will test again around Sept - October since it can take 3-6 months to gestate and be active in the body. Aside from that we tested her for Parvo/Giardia/Coccidia and was negative for that. We dewormed her and her sister and they are now clear of them, she is UTD on shots, chipped and will go in for spay when an available opening comes up.
Rena gets along with calm dogs in her foster home but cats are questionable, or at least kittens, she does well with house and crate training and hasn't had any accidents with her routine.
Rena is a quiet girl and is easily startled so a quiet home we are seeking for her. She also tends to be a little bit gender bias preferring women. She is not mean to men but if she has a choice she favors females. She will need a fenced yard or tie-out, not invisible fencing because if she spooks, no amount of zapping will stop her, she will keep running. If there is maybe another dog for her to hang with, it will do her good or kids that are 10 years or older. Adopter should be patient with her as well.
She isn't a hard girl but is sensitive. If you scold one of the kids for something, she will take it that she did something wrong, even though she didn't, and may "scared pee" a little for a day or two. She thrives on just pointing the positive behaviors and NOT dwell on negative behaviors. Her eval suggests she was a victim of abuse by a previous owner. We are working to show her not everyone is bad.
We would love to find a home that she can just focus with one human and give companionship and go with on new adventures.
She has become very close to her foster mom as she has been with her for around 8 months and Rena has built trust with her foster mom. She will take a few steps back with a new home and family but keep quiet voices, have plenty of healthy treats as she is very food motivated...she loves frozen carrots and peas. Low calorie treats to help build a repore with her and show you're a good person.
