Meet Remy
Meet Remy!
This little guy has had a hard few years, but we're hopeful we can find someone devoted to him who can accept him for who he is. Ideally this will be someone who will respect him as you learn together how to have a great life.
Remy was found running scared on the streets of an urban Colorado city. He was only 13 lbs. then (now he is 18 lbs.) and had obviously not been treated with kindness in his short life. He was about a year old at that point.
He went to a loving, busy foster home with two other dogs, teenagers and a kitty... and did fairly well. He would remove himself if things got too loud, but mostly liked to hang out with the teenage boys or go for adventure hikes with volunteers in our rescue.
Remy was adopted out, and his adopters knew he was "special needs" due to his fear and low confidence around body handling. He can resource guard toys and high value food, but he's also a very smart and sweet soul who wants to be with his people. He can be joyful, fun and playful... he very much enjoys training and going on adventures with lots of sniffing. Don't let his size mislead you, he can do some fun hiking!
Remy has really blossomed in the year he's been an adopted dog in a stable home, with a regular schedule and predictability and no harsh treatment. However, a few incidents occurred last winter that created a scenario where his people have decided they don't want to keep him forever. Luckily they're willing to keep him while an actual forever home is found.
?Remy will need a fairly quiet home, one without kids; and it must have a fenced area so he can go out without having to be harnessed up every single time.
