Meet Redwood
Say hello to Redwood! This little guy is from our national park litter, and folks, let me tell you—this puppy is a total showstopper. Too cute for words, really. But what’s even crazier than his cuteness? The fact that someone actually let this little heartbreaker end up in a shelter. Their loss is your gain, though, because Redwood is now ready to find his happily ever after. Now, before you get all excited, let's talk about Redwood’s size—he’s like a fun-sized version of our usual polar bear cub puppies. It’s adorable in a "wait, you’re supposed to be a big, fluffy guard dog" kind of way. But don’t worry, he’s got all the spunk, just packed into a smaller package. He’s a 6-week-old, 5lb male shepherd mix who’s already making fast friends with the other dogs—he plays with his siblings and even gets along with the big dogs, like he’s already auditioning for the role of “the cool kid” in the dog park. As for cats, well, he hasn’t met one yet, but with the right guidance, he’ll be on the “cat-friendly” list in no time. The same goes for kids—hasn’t met any, but he’s got that “I’m going to love everyone” vibe, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a kid’s best friend with just a little socialization. He is a small puppy, so teething is on the horizon, but like all puppies, he’ll grow out of it eventually. He has not had the chance to meet many new people yet, but we can already tell you that he’ll cry when he sees you through a fence or gate—because who could resist someone who loves them that much? He thrives on attention and affection, and he’ll be your little shadow, soaking up all the love you can give. In short, Redwood is a sweet, playful, attention-loving pup. Just be prepared—his adorableness will have you wrapped around his tiny paw in no time.
His energy level is an 8 out of 10—think of him as the slightly more active version of a golden retriever after their morning coffee, or a curious fox who’s just had a nap in the sun. He’s definitely not running laps like a whirlwind, but don’t expect him to be a couch potato either. This pup is all about adventures, whether it’s exploring the yard or discovering new nap spots. This guy is basically ready for adventures at the drop of a hat—hiking, beach days, road trips, you name it. Sweet, gentle, and playful? Yep, he’s got all that in spades. He’s also one of the two largest puppies in the litter, which basically means he’s been training for greatness. When he’s not playing, you’ll find him perfecting the art of napping. This guy knows how to take a power nap like nobody’s business, though he prefers to do it in a giant pile of his siblings. He’s independent, and while the others are catching Z’s inside, he’s out in the play yard, living his best solo life.
Alright, let's talk about what you’ll need to do as his new, lucky adopter. You’re going to need to socialize him—because, you know, he’s a puppy, not a social media influencer. He needs to meet people, other dogs, maybe a few cats (if he’s lucky) so he doesn’t turn into that weird dog who barks at everyone and everything. Next up, training. Oh yes, training—because even though he’s adorable, he’s not a natural-born genius. Expect him to look at you like you're speaking ancient Greek when you ask him to sit, stay, or—dare I say it—heel. It’ll be like he’s trying to figure out if you're speaking to him or just offering him a snack. But don’t worry, with some patience and the right treats, he’ll eventually realize you’re not just there to pet him (although that is 99% of his agenda). Potty training—oh, that joyous rite of passage. Expect a few accidents as he learns the ropes, but remember: every mistake is just another opportunity to praise him for getting it right. And let's be real—when he finally gets it, you’ll feel like you’ve won the lottery. And then there’s leash training If you’re lucky, he’ll eventually figure out that pulling is not the way to go or that the leash is not a chew toy, but until then, brace yourself for some serious tug-of-war sessions. It's a workout for both of you! And last but not least, puppy-proofing your house. You’re going to want to make sure your favorite shoes, furniture, and everything with a “chewable” label are out of reach. It’s not personal, it’s just that everything is a toy in his eyes.
Alright, folks, if you’ve made it this far, congratulations! You’ve just met the puppy of your dreams. Now, if you’re ready to sign up for a lifetime of adorable fun and puppy snuggles, here's what you need to do: Fill out an adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app. Yup, we know, paperwork—so thrilling. But it’s the only way we can send your info to his foster family so they can check if you're worthy of this little bundle of joy. Once you’re approved, be prepared to drive to Oklahoma City, OK, where your new best friend will be waiting to fill your life with... well, let’s just say he’ll keep you on your toes. He’ll be ready to go home around March 22, so get those application forms in and make it happen! Trust us, this little guy is worth the wait.
