Redmond Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler & Australian Shepherd Mix Boulder, CO

Whenever a Herding Dog gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of these breed mixes are extremely loving and engaging, super- smart and very loyal best friends. They tend to fit well into a family setting and make excellent companions for older kids as well as adults.

Redmond is a stunning 10 month old, 47 lb Red Heeler...with just a touch of Aussie in the mix for good measure. This beautiful dog is such a great age - just old enough to be able to understand and implement adult skills and young enough to be a blank slate just waiting for guidance to be a great companion out in the world.

“Since bringing him home, Red is continuing to be a total LOVEBUG. Super interested in pleasing you, very food motivated, and very playful! Super smart and seems to already know how to sit and lay down. He will no doubt make an excellent hiking Buddy, and do great with an active adopter. He is enjoying playing with my dogs, and is responding well when they are done playing and ready for a break.
Red is a super curious and clever boy. He will do anything for treats and mostly wants to have something to do. He has really liked the puzzle toys and heavy duty chew toys for keeping him busy. He LOVES running around the backyard to get his energy out.
He is super easy to go in his crate at night and is quiet, no complaints!
He is working on some general house manners: working on not jumping and not begging for your food!
He had a couple of accidents in the first day or two but is getting the hang of taking himself out."

Redmond is a perfect size and temperament to accompany his family just about anywhere a well-behaved guy is welcome. He will be overjoyed with Colorado trails..always being up for a hike, snowshoeing or just a long walk. At day's end, Redmond is the most loving couch companion and snuggler around.

Like so many dogs, Redmond will learn the skills to walk quietly beside his people after attending force-free training class. If Redmond is trained with positive reinforcement methods (virtual or in-person) and given lots of kind attention and socialization with both humans and other dogs...he will use the skills he's learned to become a very bonded, self-confident and well-behaved companion. Redmond has all the most important elements working in his favor since he's starting out with a great temperament and a strong desire to please.

Redmond will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. Redmond is also neutered.
