Meet Red! ???
Red is a stunning 52 lb 2-year-old Lab mix with a heart of gold. Found abandoned on a rural property, this sweet boy hasn’t let his past dim his loving spirit. Red adores people, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and thrives on attention and affection. He's also good with chickens!
Thanks to RARE, Red has started his journey toward a bright future. He’s been neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm tested. Unfortunately, he is heartworm positive, but don’t let that hold you back! RARE will fully cover his treatment as part of our program if we can find a loving foster or foster-to-adopt home to care for him during this time. Heartworms are only contagious/transferred by mosquitoes, so as long as your dog is on prevention (which they should be!) then your dogs will not be at risk. Red is also on prevention now so that also reduces any potential risk. We just have to treat those pesky adult worms and we can with your help!
Red is eager to settle into a safe, warm home where he can share his love and playful energy. Whether you’re ready to foster this sweet boy or looking to adopt your new best friend, Red is waiting for you!
To help Red, please complete a foster application or an adoption application at RARERescue.org. Together, we can give Red the second chance he so deserves!

BREEDS:Â We are not breed experts. The breed(s) listed for each adoptable are best guesses or suggestions.
PLEASE NOTE: We are a non-profit organization without municipal or government funding. Veterinary/Medical expenses are constant for an animal rescue. Our adoption fees not only help to provide vetting and care for the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need in order to be made available for adoption.
Please understand that adopting an animal is a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to that animal and there will be veterinary expenses throughout their life that can often cost several hundreds, if not thousands of dollars (without pet insurance), especially without annual checkups and preventative care. As a potential family for this pet you are responsible for their safety and that includes keeping them on your property.
***If you are not in the middle Tennessee area, transport can potentially be arranged to approved homes, depending on distance and local adaptability. We normally do not allow adoptions outside of 1.5 hours driving distance.
