They say that with experience comes wisdom. At 15 years old, Shih Tzu Randy has had enough experience to know exactly what he is looking for in a forever home. He may have applications in progress but is currently available.

Randy was found as a stray and came to Stop the Suffering from a rural Ohio shelter. He was obviously someone's beloved pet at some point because he understands what it is to be a pampered indoor pup. He likes to sit on the couch with his foster family and watch TV and he rides well in a crate in the car. He walks nicely on a leash, but at his age he walks slowly and takes very short walks just around the block. He enjoys soft comfy dog beds and sleeps all night curled up on a bed or blanket. He is mostly housebroken, but due to his age please understand that accidents will happen overnight and he has issues holding his bladder so he wears a belly band, but that is easy to manage.

Randy was a bit of a medical mystery when he first arrived, but that is sorted out now and he only needs eye drops, 2 inexpensive pills, and a monthly pain injection for orthopedic aches and pains that come with aging. Randy has very limited vision, but finds his way around remarkably well. Due to his age and aches and pains he needs a home with children age 8 and up. Randy does not like cats and barks at and chases the cats in his foster home, but has never injured them. He lives with other similar sized dogs currently and gets along fine with them as long as they give him his space. He cannot be crated in the house, but he is not destructive if left out of a crate and is usually found taking a nap when his foster family is away. Randy is a pleasant and friendly little guy who will make a nice companion for someone with a low-key lifestyle that understands the unique needs of a senior dog.

Adoption fee is $250 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, fecal/deworming, vaccines and prevention up to date. Ohio residents only.

STS is a foster-based and volunteer-run rescue. We do not have a physical location or set hours for you to meet dogs, and it does take time to answer each inquiry. All dogs are in foster homes and once an application is approved and a home visit is completed you will be able to schedule meet and greets with available dogs.
